Description: 9 vols.., pp.671, [i] + additional engraved title-page; 671, [i]; 671, [i]; 671, [i]; 671, [i]; 671, [i]; 668, [iv]; 654, [xviii], 360. Numerous errors in pagination, as usual. Text in Latin with examples and quotations in Greek, index in vol.9. Engraved initials, engraved title-page with the figures numbered in an old hand and a key naming them added at the bottom, very sparse pencil notes to margins. Each title-page has 2-4 cut holes (possibly to remove names), which have been repaired with Japanese tissue although a couple of the repairs have since failed. Sporadic light foxing, vol.6 toned mark to p.5, vol.9 very light dampstaining at head edge. Uniformly bound in contemporary cat's paw calf, spines heavily gilt, raised bands, brown morocco labels, red edges, marbled endpapers. Rubbed, some wear to endcaps, a few joints just starting with the upper joint of vol.3 having been glued a bit messily, vol.9 with small hole in leather of upper board near joint, some corners frayed. A very good, handsome set. Very large bookplate of Rowland Hunt, Esq. of Boreton, Salop to front pastedowns of most vols., sometimes with another bookplate just visible underneath.

It is formed on the editions of Victorius Manutius, Lambinus and Gruter: where these agree with each other, Olivet does not depart from them; where they disagree, he adopts that reading which his judgement suggests as preferable.'
