Title: [Opera] Cum Veterum Omnium Commentariis et Selectis Recentiorum Notis. Nova Editio.
Publication: [Lugduni Batavorum]: Ex officina Abraham Commelini, 1646.
Description: 'Nova editio'. 4to, pp. [xvi], 996, [lvi]. Engraved title-page, woodcut initials. Small quantity of annotations and underlining throughout. 3D3 with loss to fore-edge margin, not affecting text. Vellum prize binding, ruled spine with title inked at head, gilt borders, gilt centrepieces with arms of Amsterdam to each board. Spine darkened, smudgy marks, small split in vellum of final compartment, tiny loss to headcap, endpapers a bit toned, ties lost, still very good overall. Small clipping from bookseller's catalogue to front pastedown.
A notable feature of this important edition is Schrevel's use of collations supplied by Nicolas Heinsius, who would later produce his own edition of Virgil, following the work of his father, whose text had been printed by the Elzevirs.
